The “Don’t Make Me Think” Holiday Bake of the Week

(This newsletter features an affiliate link to Talkspace)

Hey mama,

If you’ve found yourself standing in the kitchen this week thinking,
“What on earth am I supposed to bake for this party / teacher gift / class thing / family night?” this email is for you.

Decision fatigue is real in December. And honestly? You don’t need 47 Pinterest tabs open to try and make something over the top.

So today I’m giving you one cozy, crowd-pleasing holiday treat that:

✔️ is a family-recipe favorite
✔️ works for gifting, parties, or a movie night
✔️ and your kids can help with (if you want)

🎄 Holiday Bake of the Week: Pasteles Con Queso

Also known as the Bolivian dessert your kids will beg you to make over and over again.

What you'll need:

  • 4.5 – 5 cups of Sifted Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Corn Oil (or 2-3 tablespoons butter, if you use salted butter, omit the salt above)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup warm water or milk (I prefer using milk as it adds more moisture and flavor to the dough)
  • Your Choice of Frying Oil
  • Powdered Sugar

Note, this is a recipe my grandmother would make EVERY holiday season. My mom never made it too much, so once we had our own family, I decided it was something I wanted to introduce as a holiday tradition.

Trust me, some days I think about whipping these delicious, gooey, cheesy, pastries all year long, but I do my best to save them for Christmas.

You can snag the full recipe and how-to instructions below.

💛 A Gentle Reminder

Sometimes even the “easy stuff” feels hard in this season.

The baking.
The events.
The schedules.
The emotional weight that sneaks in when the year starts to close.

And if you’ve been feeling more tired, more sensitive, or more overwhelmed than usual — you’re not imagining it.

Research shows that stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms commonly increase during the holiday season, especially for parents juggling financial pressure, social expectations, and emotional labor.¹

If you’ve been feeling emotionally overloaded this season, talking to someone can be incredibly grounding. That’s why I’ve been sharing Talkspace, an online therapy platform that truly fits into real mom life.

Here’s what’s available right now:

  • Therapy may be free with your insurance (yes, potentially a $0 copay)
  • Paying out of pocket? You can use SPACE80 for $80 off your first month

You don’t have to be “at a breaking point” to deserve support. You’re allowed to get help simply because this season is a lot. So visit Talkspace today and get the support you deserve.

So, whos ready to take a deep breathe, let that stress roll off your shoulders, and bake up a delicious holiday treat that can (almost) fix your problems?

Please reply and let me know how you liked them if you give them a try!

Until next week friends,
