Dear Reader, As a new mom, you may be facing a lot of changes in your life, including changes in your body. It's natural to feel self-conscious about your postpartum body, I know I did, but it's important to remember that every body is different and there is no "right" way for your body to look after giving birth. And keep in mind...this journey won't be linear. You will ebb and flow throughout acceptance and disapproval over, and over, and over, and over again. It's also important to remember that the media often presents unrealistic standards of postpartum bodies, which can contribute to feelings of inadequacy and shame. However, it's important to focus on your own journey and celebrate the amazing things your body has accomplished in bringing new life into the world. Here are a few tips to help you embrace your postpartum body:
And if we're being honest, I want you to know, I struggle with this too. Even 3 years after giving birth... It is an ongoing journey. Some days I feel like I still got it. Some days I feel like my body is broken. But every, single, day...I choose to keep showing up. Because I am worth it. And so are you, loves. Remember, your postpartum body is a testament to your strength and resilience. Embrace and celebrate it for all that it is. |
