Motherhood can feel, lonely

Hi Reader,

I was talking to a mom friend of mine this past week and she brought up a concept that I don't think we entirely talk about enough...the feeling of being lonely.

When you think about it, loneliness can creep its way into your life, especially in motherhood. You spend your days at home raising your kids, you leave for 8-9 hours of work before getting home to see your family, or maybe you live really far away from all your loved ones...in all of these scenarios, there's a huge hole of loneliness.

So, what can you do?

I can't promise you a solution that will make all you loneliness away, but as a mom who has experienced this feeling and a friend, I have a few tips for you.

  1. Share Your Truth: It's okay not to have it all together. Share your highs and lows with other moms, and you'll be amazed at the support that pours in. Vulnerability is a superpower, and admitting that motherhood isn't always rainbows and unicorns can be a relief for both you and the other moms. Embrace imperfection, and you'll find a tribe that loves you for exactly who you are.
  2. Reach Out and Connect: Just like our little ones need social interaction, so do we! Don't hesitate to reach out to other moms in your community or even online. Join local mom groups, attend playdates, or find virtual communities where you can share your joys and struggles. Trust me, there's a fellow mom out there who's dying for someone to relate to. We're all in this together!
  3. Prioritize "Me" Time: I get it, finding time for yourself in the chaos of motherhood seems like a mythical quest. But, mama, it's crucial. Schedule some guilt-free "me" time, whether it's a quiet bath, a chapter of your favorite book, or even just a leisurely stroll. Reconnecting with yourself allows you to recharge and be a better, more present mom. Your well-being matters just as much as everyone else's.
