Hey Reader,

Periods suck….I’ve never known a mom who enjoys being on period, especially after having kids.

So, let me know if this story sounds familiar…

I started oral birth control at a young age. Somewhere around 14-15 years old. My cycle at the time was incredibly painful. I’d get physically sick, feel nauseous, be unable to move, and eventually started to have very inconsistent cycles.

One month it would last 3-4 days, the next month it would last almost 2 weeks.

I remember going to my doctor at the time and right away was told the same thing many of you have likely been told, I NEED to be on the pill.

I can’t even remember the number of pills I’ve tried or been on over the years. But one thing is certain - over these years, I’ve had horrible GI issues, migraines, and other random health issues I’ve never been able to get a handle on (no matter how healthy my lifestyle has been).

Fast forward to having kids - something about our periods after kids just doesn’t hit the same. They’re heavier. More painful. More uncomfortable. And if you guessed my doctor’s solution was to try a new pill, you guessed right.

It wasn’t until the end of 2023 where I had a period for OVER ONE MONTH that I finally made the decision to get off the pill.

But I didn’t ditch birth control completely, I switched to a natural method of birth control known as Natural Cycles - the only FDA cleared birth control app. (That means, you should be able to get it covered through your insurance btw 🥳)

Its works via it's unique system that tracks your basal body temperature to predict your most fertile windows, ovulation, and of course period days**. Pretty neat, huh?

Here’s what I can tell you has happened since getting OFF the pill in November 2022:

  • My first period took 2 months to show up, and it sucked.
  • My next few periods have been lighter and only last 3 days!
  • I haven’t had a headache or migraine in weeks.
  • My hair has begun to grow back in areas I thought would remain thin forever.
  • I feel much more energized throughout the day.
  • My cycle is becoming more and more predictable.
  • I haven’t had any nausea related to my periods after yeaaars of GI problems for unknown reasons.

All this to say, if your story sounds similar to mine, I encourage you to take your health back into YOUR own hands, mamas.

You deserve to feel good in the body you're in without having to rely on hormonal birth control.

Try Natural Cycles today and use code: MOMAFTERBABY for 20% off an annual plan!

Keep at it mamas, you're doing a killer job at the mom stuff and beyond.

Until next time,

**Natural cycles cannot guarantee pregnancy or 100% effective contraception. You must be 18+ to use Natural Cycles & it does not protect against STIs.

Hi Reader, I was talking to a mom friend of mine this past week and she brought up a concept that I don't think we entirely talk about enough...the feeling of being lonely. When you think about it, loneliness can creep its way into your life, especially in motherhood. You spend your days at home raising your kids, you leave for 8-9 hours of work before getting home to see your family, or maybe you live really far away from all your loved ones...in all of these scenarios, there's a huge hole...
